Laundry washing machines, or a washing machine, also called washing machine in French-speaking Canada and laundry machine in Belgium, is a household appliance designed to clean clothes and linens.Lire la suite
In general, this term refers to machines in which water is the main washing solvent.
There are two cases:
Forward opening (frontal). The model with a front opening through a porthole is usually 60 × 60 cm. It is the most popular in Europe. Loading is done through a glass door on the front of the machine. The cylinder is also called drum. Agitation is provided by the rotation of the cylinder and by gravity. The garments are lifted inside the drum by stepped vanes and then fall back down. This movement stirs the fabric and causes the water and detergent to penetrate through all the clothes; this is the closest type of washing to traditional beating. The maximum load is 8 or 9 kg ;
Top opening (top). This model is very common in Western Europe and in some Eastern countries. In France, in 2008, there were about 44% of households equipped with top, and 56% with front. This model is generally 60 × 40 cm wide and therefore has the advantage of taking up less space than the front-loading model. On the other hand, you can’t use the top of the machine as a work surface. The washing is done in the same way as in the front-loading model, and the consumption is identical for both types of machines. The maximum load is 6 to 8 kg.
